Connect Yamaha’s new WXAD-10 MusicCast AV adapter to a Disklavier or Clavinova piano, and the keyboard can play back songs you’ve streamed to it via MusicCast.
Yamaha is keen to its MusicCast wireless multiroom system into every possible product range, even their pianos. So you can play the keys (or let it play in auto-mode) while broadcasting the sound and music of your piano to any room of your house.
On of the several uses of the WXAD-10 is that it can help your learn the piano. Once the WXAD-10 is connected to a piano or keyboard, MusicCast technology can play songs through the compatible speakers. Yamaha has a select range of songs, in WAV format, that can be sent wirelessly via MusicCast to the instrument.
Yamaha’s gives a lot of importance to the educational aspect (in most of its products). Even in this case, Yamaha is hoping that using this technology, children will become more interested in learning the piano as they are likely to practice the songs they already know.
While the intention is good, the problem is that Yamaha musiccast only works with select pianos or keyboards – Disklavier and the Clavinova.
And both tof these models are expensive pianos with the Disklavier priced at around €18,000 to €28,000 and the Clavinova priced over €4000.
So how difficult would it be for such families to hire a good private piano tutor?
Other challenge is that the software is unable to separate out components of the songs yet, so you split out the harmony, melody, or piano section from the song. You cannot mute any of these, its either you play everything together or don’t.
So while buyers may not buy the WXAD-10 solely as an educational aid to learn the piano, if you’re already considering buying the WXAD-10 for its streaming possibilities, you can even use it to learn the piano (provided you have a Disklavier or the Clavinova).
Yamaha’s WXAD-10 MusicCast adapter can not only add multiroom and streaming possibilities to any audio system, it could also help you leearn to play the piano. The WXAD-10 is known within the company as ADD.
