Yamaha AvantGrand pianos (N3X, N2, N1X) have the remarkable ability to recreate the same sounds and action as on a traditional acoustic piano, and are backed by top piano artistes in the world, from pop to classical. The AvantGrand pianos from Yamaha have been around for almost a decade now. If you are looking for a real acoustic piano that also offers you the best of the digital world, the AvantGrand could be the perfect piano for you. The AvantGrand N1X is the latest addition to this series; it features an upright, space-saving design.
Introduction to Yamaha Pianos
Yamaha pianos are well known for their superior quality as well as for their wide range of pianos, and are backed by some of the top artistes in the world.
Yamaha was among the first to to come out with a ‘hybrid’ piano, through its Silent, Transacoustic, and AvantGrand pianos.
Here’s more about the Yamaha AvantGrand pianos.
AvantGrand Pianos are Hybrids
Hybrid pianos use digital technology to produce the sound; these pianos take most of the samples from top Yamaha concert pianos (such as Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand and the Bösendorfer Imperial).
The piano then uses Modelling technology to create a sound based on these sound samples, and also recreates the various nuances of an acoustic instrument such as sympathetic string resonance, damper pedal resonance, resonance of the soundboard, and more.
Compared to a digital piano, hybrids have many more moving parts, because the keyboard/action is more or less similar to that on an acoustic piano.
An important feature of the AvantGrand (N3X, N2 and N1X) pianos is its ability to resonate, just like a grand piano does. This is achieved using a transducer that transmits the vibrations to the keys and pedals, thus giving it a very realistic feel.
Yamaha AvantGrand Pianos
Yamaha AvantGrand pianos include the following models – the AvantGrand N3X, N2, N1X. These are hybrid pianos that give you the best of both the worlds – digital as well as acoustic.
These pianos use over 5000 individual parts, which make the action and sound on these pianos similar to that on a Yamaha acoustic grand piano.
Yamaha NiX
Yamaha recently announced the AvantGrand N1X piano that inherits several design features from Yamaha’s CX and CF series grand pianos.
The N1X uses real wooden keys and hammers to mimic the action of a grand piano. However, the hammers do not strike a string; instead Sensors capture the various details, which is then reproduced using cutting-edge technology. The N1X includes a four-channel “spatial” speaker system, has onboard recording feature. Songs from an external device can be wirelessly streamed (via Bluetooth) through the speaker system of the AvantGrand N1X. You also get the Yamaha Smart Pianist app that gives you complete control over the N1X using an iOS/Android device.
Closing Thoughts
Yamaha AvantGrand Pianos are hybrid pianos, suitable for those who fancy only a real piano.
