Find all the tips, suggestions and solutions for display problems on electronic keyboards & pianos. It is similar to a computer screen, and on most computers you do the screen brightness settings from the control panel.
Most advanced electronic keyboards and digital pianos do have controls for adjusting the brightness and contrast, but unfortunately not all the models have this feature. In some cases, after turning the main power on, the main display does not appear; its hows nothing on the LCD display.
In some cases, the display appears only in one section of the screen. In some cases, the display shows wrong information. For example, when you play a note the display shows four notes being played instead of one. In such cases, the only option is to show it to a technician.

Liquid was spilled on LCD screen. Now only edges illuminate. Otherwise, instrument functions normally. Can I remove the screen myself and use the manufacturer part number to obtain a generic replacement or even simply clean the contacts and reinstall it?
LED indicators on Electronic Piano Keyboard. We had an overloading in our area. I have a second hand keyboard that got damaged. We replaced all circuits but in the main circuit there isn’t a 5V input. The speakers are working, however sometimes the display is on, but the system cannot turn on. No LED indicator light and keys are not working. The keyboard was quite expensive when we bought it.
The LCD display on my Juno-G keyboard tends to show only in the upper right corner and the other 3/4s of the display is blanked out. Other occasions the full display works properly. In recent discovery of this intermittent symptom, the display now has the symptom after the unit is turn off for a while. After left on for several minutes to several hours I turn the unit off and back on and the display comes back to full view with no more additional problems during usage. After the keyboard is turned off for a longer period of time and then turned back on again, the display goes back to the view in the upper right corner only. I have photos showing the correct view and the problem view.
Display of music keyboard shows wrong information. On a Casio wk-1800 music keyboard, whenever you play a note the display shows four notes being played instead of one. And they won’t release it until you restart the piano keyboard. A 1cm section of the screen on the right-hand repeats itself.
On a Yamaha psr 9000, the right-hand side of the screen repeats itself for about one 3rds worth of the screen – making it hard to read and unable to use certain functions as you can’t see what you are changing i.e. you can’ change the volume of different parts as you can’t see what you are doing.
Display screen lights-up but is totally blank no matter what selection i choose – everything else works fine.
No sound, script, messages on my LCD screen. When I turn on the Williams Digital Concerto piano all 7 red LED indicator lights blink on and off, No sound from speakers nor headphones when plugged in, and the LCD screen has a light blue color (normal) but, no lettering or numbers showing…just an empty screen. I have looked on Williams piano website and tried the few trouble shooting tips in the back of the manual. I am hoping that this is a simple case of the piano needing to be restored to a factory state. Any firm advice on my Williams Concerto digital piano is appreciated. I am in SouthWest Missouri and do not have a tech available. Thanks.
Piano Light Turns On but No Text, Messages Show Up on LCD Monitor Screen. The words on the keyboard monitor disappear on my Technics KN1200 Keyboard. Technics keyboard KN1200 monitor does not seem to be working and it shows only a green background light. It looks as if it has a low battery signal, whereas it is not the case. What could be wrong?
Blank display on Yamaha YPG-525 Piano. I’ve had problems with the display on my Yamaha YPG-525 piano since the day it was purchased. 1st only half of the display was gone with vertical lines on one side and partial display on the other. Returned it to have repaired under warranty. Few months later entire display went blank.
Faulty Display is Grainy, Hazy and Flickers – Unreadable Screen on Digital Piano Keyboard. My Yamaha PSR 3000 keyboard has some problem with its display unit. The display unit flickers a lot and gets very strenuous on the eyes after using it for some time.
Possible Solutions
Though it is not necessary, the LED on some keyboards can become dim. Some keyboards let you change the contrast and other Display settings. You will need to check how to do that for your keyboard. If the issue still persists, you would need to get a technician to check if the connection (of the display) inside the keyboard is fine or not. It could be some loose connection that could be fixed by soldering.
Using the USB storage device with your Yamaha PRS-S910 could also be a potential problem. Many users have noticed that if a USB storage device is attached to the Yamaha PSR keyboard, it may result in a long wait between the moment you turn the power on, and the appearance of the main display on your keyboard. It is easy though to get rid of this problem, just remember to disconnect the USB device before you turn the power on. Just try this out and see if it works. Else, try resetting the digital piano (factory reset). You may have to show it a technician as the internal circuit may have got damaged.
Brightness of LCD screen is actually a combination of a display bulb and the chip that controls it; it could be any of the two that could be a problem. So, you may need to replace the chip.
It could also be because the keyboard was lying idle for long time in a humid area, and the wiring inside may have got corroded or loose.
Replacement LCD Screen for Digital Piano Keyboards
The price that the companies want to charge for a replacement LCD screen can be high. A lot of replacement parts for piano/keyboard instruments are quite expensive.
In most cases, you will need to approach support or a technical person. In some cases, changing the screen can be expensive (one user got a quotation from Yamaha for approx: $1000.00 material and labor to get a new display).

Casio WK-1800
I have had this keyboard for 17 years and rarely used it. After cleaning and fixing the two keys, I realize that the display no longer shows any piece of information on its screen. No tuning, no rhythms or else can be seen on the screen. Does it have something to do with the built-in battery which holds no power, I believe. :).
