Longview Symphony Orchestra to present Halloween Spooktacular. Wear your Halloween costume to the symphony concert Saturday. You’ll be in good company. Children 12 and younger will be admitted to the concert for free if they’re wearing a costume and accompanied by a parent who buys his or her ticket at the door.
“It’s going to be a real blast,” said music director and conductor Gene Moon.
“It was definitely inspired by the fact that we’re in that fall festival, Halloween. We want to do our part to make the Longview Symphony Orchestra something for the entire family, and encourage young children with their parents to come on over Saturday night and enjoy a lot of fun music with a lot of visual antics. The entire orchestra is going to be in costume. That’s going to be really cool to see.”
There will be music that will introduce kids to the orchestra. The concert also will feature two pieces popularized by Disney’s “Fantasia” — “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Paul Dukas and “Night on Bald Mountain” by Modest Mussorgsky. “Highlights from Jurassic Park” by John Williams and “Danse Macabre” by Camille Saint-Saëns, will round out the concert.
The concert’s purpose is to introduce younger generations to the orchestra.
Cabell student orchestra gives pirate-themed Halloween Concert
Orchestral students from around Cabell County played a selection of music from “Pirates of the Caribbean” and other seafaring tunes at Cabell Midland High School’s 20th annual Halloween Concert.
A giant pirate ship accompanied onstage the hundreds of young, swashbuckling musicians, which included students from Cabell Midland and Huntington high schools as well as string players from Milton, Barboursville and Huntington middle schools.
Many of the student musicians wore pirate-themed Halloween costumes.
