Casio’s ‘Action in Music’ is an initiative to promote music education and to raise awareness of its importance within a child’s curriculum.
Supported by British singer, songwriter and pianist Laura Mvula, the campaign rewards the UK’s most inspiring music teachers through the Music Teacher of the Year Awards, in conjunction with Classic FM.
“The Awards will honour five teachers who have contributed significantly to the musical lives of young people across the country.”
As part of the ‘Action in Music’ initiative, Casio will be taking a tour of several secondary schools to film music classes, talk to students about their relationship with music and to encourage them to nominate their favorite music teacher.
“Its a way of celebrating music education, importance of kids studying – be it instrumental lessons or singing, and also celebrating music teachers. I started learning the piano when I was 5, and it helped build the foundation because of which she is able to write songs today. I received so many important advice from music teachers that were the most basics elements of performance – what to do when you’re little bit nervous, or how to project, how to build stamina. I was learning all these things from my teacher when I was 11 or 12, and they have stayed with me,” Laura Mvula.

Laura visited the Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton, where she used to be a music student, to launch the campaign in schools, and to encourage pupils to nominate the teachers that have inspired them to learn more about music.
Casio donated the Celviano Grand Hybrid Piano to the Evelyn Grace Academy in order to give the students the very best experience when learning to play the piano.
“We are really pleased to donate this fantastic grand hybrid piano to the school. We are all about education and giving the best start to students lives. So many students we have spoken to love the piano and want to play on the piano and with this one they get the very best of both worlds,” Casio spokesman.
