The Casio PX-5S piano is part of the Privia line of digital pianos, and is more of a gigging keyboard. It doesn’t come with built-in speakers but is powered by AIR sound source for incredible realism, detail and expression for grand piano sounds. You get a collection of acoustic pianos, vintage synth sounds, and it also comes with powerful controller features and sequencing tools. So if you’re looking for a gigging keyboard that offers the most bang for your bucks, and are not very fussy about the brand name, this is the one that you need to consider. Casio Privia Pro PX-5S: Review
Built for the stage
The PX 5S comes with 4 knobs and 6 sliders, all of which are completely configurable. You can use these to control internal sounds, effects parameters or send midi data to other gear. Almost every setting is just one button press away allowing you to seamlessly switch configurations during a live show. Stage Settings can easily be edited, moved or replaced using the Data Manager software.
Requires External Monitors / Headphones
This is an amazing stage piano, and not really suited for beginners, though nothing stops you from buying it. You’ll need to buy external studio monitors or some good studio headphones (AUDIO-TECHNICA ATH-M50). So you’ll need to spend around a couple of hundred bucks more if you buy this piano.
Audio Recording and Playback
Easily capture your performances or music creations on a USB pen drive as a wav file. You can even play back the wav files on top of your own pre-recorded backing tracks. The second footswitch can be used to start or stop playback from the USB pen drive.
